COOLING SYSTEM LEAK.
T hink back 100 years to a world where people generally got around by walking or riding horses. What changed things? The invention of the car. Wheels may be 5500 years old, but the cars we drive round in today made their debut only in 1885. That was when German engineer Karl Benz (1844–1929) fastened a small gasoline (petrol) engine to a three-wheeled cart and made the first primitive, gas-powered car. Although Benz developed the automobile, another German engineer, Nikolaus Otto (1832–1891), was arguably even more important—for he was the man who'd invented the gasoline engine in the first place, about two decades earlier. It's a testament to Otto's genius that virtually every car engine made ever since has been inspired by his "four-stroke" design. Let's take a look at how it works!

In reply to by A random Trabant I managed to get a bit of grease on my brakes once it was seriously scary when trying to stop. 04/02/2016 - 10:17 |
An engine is dirty. You’ll need it cleaned. If you try to clean it yourself there will be water, chemicals and engine grease everywhere so I suggest you avoid doing that that in the street or your lawn. If you do that in your driveway, clean it very thoroughly after if you don’t want to skid the next time you drive on it. You will need a high pressure jet, an industrial degreaser and a lot of time Since I live in an apartment I ended up finding a garage that had a hot jets parts cleaner. It will cost you a few bucks but will save you a lot of time and trouble.

Lots of stick shift drivers do this one. When you're at a stop, you keep the clutch pushed to the floor. That way you can inch forward as traffic moves, or be ready to take off when the light turns green. However, keeping the clutch in when you're stopped causes its surfaces to scrape against each other, wearing them out and creating the possibility of failure . It also can cause damage to the release bearing, release arm, and pressure plate. Instead of riding the clutch with the shifter in gear, find Neutral with the shifter and let the clutch out. When it's time to go, put the clutch in, grab first, and drive .

where \(L_ = 2.7\ m\) is the wheel base length, \(_h = 0.4\ m\) is the height of the center of gravity, \(_f = 1.4\ m\) and \(_r = 1.3\ m\) are the horizontal distances from thecenter of gravity to forward and rear wheels centers, respectively.
It can seat up to 15 people, making it far more practical than a truck or SUV, and it's available with three engines. The 276-horsepower V6 comes standard, but customers can also go with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder (181 horses) and a 6.6-liter V8 that cranks out an impressive 401 horsepower.
The same is true about the engine air filter. As part of your regular maintenance, you want to change the air filter often.

Just as it is important to prepare for fires in your personal vehicle, it’s important to prepare for fires in commercial/industrial vehicles and machinery. Vehicle fire suppression systems can detect and suppress fires before they have a chance to do severe damage to your equipment. These systems protect the operator from severe or fatal injuries, prevent downtime and save equipment.
The lack of enough clearance slows the valves down. And when the valves are kept closed for a longer time, the heat will obviously build up. This additional amount of time that the valves take then ends up overheating the engine.

An oil warning light is one of the most serious car problems you’ll ever encounter. If the light (or oil icon) comes on, you should immediately pull over and shut off your engine. The low-pressure warning light can be mean you’ve got a bad oil pressure sensor, bum oil pump or a significant engine wear problem. But it can also mean that you’ve simply run out of oil. The good news is that you can check your oil level right there on the side of the road. Here’s how:

In this guide, I will look at the signs of a bad valve cover gasket. I also look at its function, location, and how much it costs to replace it. Let’s begin with a quick look at the signs to look for.
Frequent short trips that don’t allow the oil to fully warm up and evaporate moisture Ingestion of dirt Fuel dilution High heat breaking down the oil.
Temperature gauges are not just used for measuring the heat of the engine's coolant , although this is their main application. High performance cars often have gauges fitted to measure the temperature of the engine oil, because this can increase a lot during hard driving. Some racing cars even have gauges to monitor the temperature of the gearbox and differential oil. During development tests an engine is often fitted with a series of temperature sensors distributed around the cooling channels and oil galleries . These give a picture of the way the engine heats up under load so that changes can be made to the system to give more cooling to overheated areas — or to reduce the cooling where it is excessive.
Intake.
Maintaining quality control during the production process is crucial to ensure that each engine meets the required standards. Here are some tips to help you achieve this:

Always try to be safe while you are driving. The best way to be safe from anything like this happening is to get a locking cap on the gas tank and prevent the gas tank from great disaster and thieves stealing the gas from your car.

Depending on where you live, flash flooding might be an issue you see from time to time and some day you could face a situation where driving through high water is unavoidable. Even six inches of water can reach the bottom of passenger vehicles and if that happens it can set off a chain reaction of devastating damage to your engine. Water close to one foot deep can float cars and two feet of water can sweep away most vehicles, not to mention road visibility disappears when there’s flooding, which can lead vehicles off the road.
The tachometer is labeled with single-digit numbers. It usually starts at 1 and goes up from there. If the gauge reads 3, this indicates that the RPMs are 3,000. All numbers are multiplied by 1,000 to get the revolutions per minute rating.

They’re compact, powerful and they make an awesome noise. So why did rotary engines never really take off, and why has the concept been all but abandoned by the one manufacturer that championed it? Let’s take you through it. The 1964 NSU Spider was the first production car in the world to melt the rear tyres under the power of a Wankel rotary engine. The Wankel’s automotive debut was decades in the making, though its lifespan was relatively short ending with the 2011 Mazda RX-8. This leads us to several questions:

Nissan Leaf Plus battery Photo by Nissan An EV’s traction battery – the big one that powers the electric motors to turn the wheels – generally prefers to be somewhere between about 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. At lower ambient temperatures, the battery won’t provide as much power, and the vehicle’s range can drop as much as 20 per cent when temperatures outside are below freezing. If the battery gets too hot, it will initially lose some of its power. If its internal temperature continues to rise, it can potentially degrade, suffer partial damage, or experience complete failure, including catching fire.
While the RPMs are low, such as when you’re idling or moving slowly, only a small amount of water may enter. In this case, you need to act swiftly to remove it before it causes corrosion issues.
In this guide, I evaluate the RPMs in depth. I show you the symptoms of idle speed problems and give you some ideas of what might fix it.

Oversteer is when the momentum of a turning car breaks its back tires’ traction and is visibly seen when the rear of your car rotates toward the front of your car. The most illustrative example of this is drifting, which is when a driver initiates oversteer to drift/slide the car around the apex of a corner and continue moving forward.
Even if you're parked on a level surface, there's really no reason not to use the parking brake . Not engaging the parking brake puts the entire weight of your vehicle on a little piece of metal in the transmission called the parking pawl . It's only about as big as your finger, so it can wear out or break eventually from holding all that weight . Using the parking brake evens the load, helping delicate transmission components last longer.

Research is the backbone of any engineering project, and engine design is no exception. It is essential to gather comprehensive information about various aspects related to engine design. This includes studying existing engine designs, understanding the latest advancements in the field, and familiarizing oneself with the principles and theories of engine design.
Urine in a gas tank depends on how much urine is in the gas tank. A small amount of urine in a gas tank is not going to damage anything. The small amount of urine is like pouring a glass of water. But huge amounts of urine are obviously bad for gas tanks.

If either of these occurs, don’t panic. Your car will return to normal once the cleaner and residue burn away.
Although you might know that synthetic oils outperform conventional oils, you might not understand why. The differences begin at the molecular level.
6. Malfunctioning Computer.
Your vehicle’s cooling system relies on a thermostat near the engine to determine when to send out coolant to regulate the engine’s heat. So, if you have a malfunctioning thermostat, the entire system can be thrown out of balance. If the thermostat fails to detect high temperatures, it will hold up the flow of coolant, and your engine will overheat. On the flip side, if the thermostat has failed and is allowing coolant to flow constantly, your engine will have a hard time getting to operating temperature. The best way to avoid this is with regular cooling system maintenance, including coolant fluid exchanges as per manufacturer recommendations.
First, we will start by importing some useful libraries:

Of all the car problems you might encounter, a squealing belt is potentially the most annoying. When the rubber belt loses its grip and slips around the pulleys it produces a high-pitched squeal. In rare cases, a worn slow-moving alternator, pump or AC compressor bearing or component misalignment can cause even a perfectly good belt to squeal. But most of the time the belt slips because it’s either worn down, is too loose or has been contaminated with oil or coolant. You can diagnose all those problems yourself with a visual inspection, a belt wear gauge and a spray water bottle.

The primary purpose of coolant is to cool down your engine. So, it’s no surprise that if your vehicle is low or out of coolant, your engine will overheat! Just keep in mind that your vehicle has a sealed cooling system, so if you’re constantly adding coolant, you need to figure out where it’s going.

Step 5: Manufacturing and Production.
The chain of reactions which achieve that objective is set in motion by a spark , which ignites a mixture of petrol vapour and compressed air inside a momentarily sealed cylinder and causes it to burn rapidly. That is why the machine is called an internal combustion engine . As the mixture burns it expands, providing power to drive the car.

Sounds like: Well, like something going tick tick tick This is an annoying noise, and one that could mean big bills if you ignore it. If you get a ticking noise, normally from the front of the car, there’s a good chance it means your constant velocity (CV) joint is worn. Normally packed with greased and protected from the elements by a rubber ‘boot’, the CV joint is a crucial part of driving your wheels. If you’re getting a ticking noise, it means it’s worn out. A worn out CV joint will get hot, it will get progressively weaker and eventually, it will break, leaving you stranded in the process. Most garages can have a look and fit a replacement if needed, though be warned, it can be costly as it requires the removal of the brakes, wheel hub and even suspension parts in some cases.
